Update Hi all how have you been? Did you enjoy Snow and Ice ? I had some troubles trying to figure out how to get the drama across when it’s mostly about one actor in a deserted location. Anyway the seasons seem to be on my mind lately. I have a new idea for a story connected with spring. So keep an eye out for that one in February. Today I’d like to share some thoughts about a fantasy trilogy I read last year. You may have heard of it already, as it’s been around for a long while and is very popular. If you haven’t read it yet I certainly recommend it as a way of broadening your fantasy horizons. I am talking about The Saga of the Borderlands by Liliana Bodoc . Her style has that dreamlike quality, the characters are real people with complex personalities and the plot is solid. What sets this trilogy apart for me is the fact that it is the only fantasy trilogy that I’ve read that wasn’t based on western mythology and language. If you like reading fantasy you will

Snow and Ice

Snow & Ice A cold wind blew across the open land. Thin clouds hurried along the moon, making it difficult to see. The field was covered in snow but Aileen knew she had to keep going straight ahead. She didn’t know why but she often found herself here on this same stretch, walking the same snow covered field. I must be dreaming, she thought. She noticed now that her feet were not sinking into the snow. Despite going barefoot the only cold she felt was from the wind blowing in her back. A thin, gauzy white dress flapped around her sandy brown legs. Around her arms there were a few strips of cloth attached to the dress at the shoulders. The strips billowed in the strong breeze leaving her arms unprotected. Well this is a bit dramatic isn’t it? Aileen wanted to wear something more comfortable. The dress obliged, turning into a cotton summer dress with a motif of small white flowers embroidered along the hem just above her knees. Her arms were now covered to the elbow by sl

Update Hi all, how’ve you been? I’m personally just glad December is over. The end of the year tends to weigh me down like a suffocating blanket. The New Year by contrast seems to bring a breath of fresh air. Like a blank page it’s open to any adventure you want to start. So my adventure for 2016 is to be more consistent with my writing and blogging than I have been in 2015. Since last year wasn’t a very productive year for me personally that shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. I’m not saying 2015 was entirely unproductive. I did quite a lot of stuff for others which benefits me also but progress on my own stories has been slow and my blog archive for 2015 is dismal when compared to the archive of 2014. I guess you could say I need to remind myself to stay committed to writing my own stuff even if it isn’t making me any money. I think the hardest part will be trying to find relevant topics to write about on a regular basis. I’ll be on the lookout for anything that may be wort
